Thanks for checking in! Due to the Covid-19 virus pandemic, our offices are operating differently than normal. Please read below for more information:
Adoptions: We are open by *scheduled appointment only*. Adoptable pets can be viewed online at www.petharbor.com. Masks are required to enter the building. Please come prepared with a leash/collar, cat carrier, etc for your appointment. The shelter provides a sample bag of Hill`s pet food thanks to their shelter program. To schedule an appointment, first fill out an application at dmcasf.org/adoption-application. Once staff have reviewed your application, we will call you as soon as we are able. Please allow 2-3 additional days to process your application due to limited staff.
Missing Pet: If your family is missing a pet, please visit www.petharbor.com to view the impounded animal`s descriptions and photos to confirm if your pet is at the shelter. If you see your pet, please call us at 217-425-4508, you may need to leave a voice mail due to limited staff. You may call to schedule a time to look through our stray area.
Field Services: If you feel you have an animal control-related issue that needs to be addressed, please call 217-425-4508 Ext. 4 Mon-Fri from 8a-5p and 217-424-1311 between 5p-8a Mon-Fri and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Found a pet: Call us at 217-425-4508 to report a found pet and seek assistance in locating a possible owner.

Once you have filled out an application there can be up to a 24 to 48 hour wait. All pets will be spayed/neutered before leaving MCAC custody. They are current on all age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and tested for heartworms (dogs) or FELV (cats). Macon County Animal Control has a veterinarian on staff.
