Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ester is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home.
Ester was picked up by animal control, and no one came to claim her. Our vet refused to euthanize her and asked for our help with placement. We think Ester is a long haired Dauchshund mix, around 2 years old, and weighing 17 pounds. Ester is cautious about meeting new people. A stranger cannot just walk up and touch her. A person needs to proceed slowly and once she decides that you are okay, then she is all snuggles and kisses. Ester is very playful and loves to run zoomies around the yard. We think that she would also get along with cats if properly introduced. Ester is a climber and will use a chair to get up on her fosters desk or table if something yummy if left unattended. Otherwise she is well behaved in the house. Ester is crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night but she is allowed free reign of the house during the day. She may need more work with housetraining, and additional obedience training and socialization would be beneficial. Ester is small and must be protected from rough treatment by children or big dogs that can hurt her. Because she is part Dauchshund, she will needs doggie stairs to get on and off the furniture. Ester must also be protected from outdoor predators and large raptors that would consider her dinner. Ester must be in the house as a loved member of the family. She must be walked on a leash and would like a secure, fenced yard to run and play.
Ester is healthy. She has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-free. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (rabies, bordatella, DAPPvL2), microchipped, and receiving monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Ester has a $550.00 adoption fee that includes the cost of ground transport to Rocky Hill, Lisbon, or Danbury CT. She is being fostered in Texas and will not be sent north until after she is adopted.
