My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Sherri is a 2 year old, 25 pound dachshund mix. She has the most beautiful eyes, It looks like she’s wearing eyeliner all the time and when she looks up at you it is hard to refuse her anything.

Sherri is very well behaved and appears to be completely housebroken.  She adjusted to her foster family’s routine with no issues but please keep in mind sometimes there may be accidents transitioning into a new household.

She is great on a leash and enjoys going for walks.  Sherri loves to ride in the car and will hop right in and get comfy.  She is also crate trained and sleeps through the night with no issues.

In true dachshund fashion, Sherri will let you know when anybody comes near or into your home.  She has a big bark so apartments are not for her.

Sherri gets along with the other resident dogs and lives with a cat in her foster home.  She does chase the cat but not in an aggressive way.  Her foster parents feel she just wants to play with her but the cat is just not interested.  When she meets dogs outside her home she seems okay but when new dogs come into HER home she is a little bossy and will need a slow introduction.

Sherri has no problem sharing toys but has shown some guarding behavior when it comes to food or her favorite treat - cow hooves.  She’s not been aggressive about it but does give a warning growl.  For this reason, older children who can respect her space would be best.

Overall, Sherri is a very mellow dog and will make someone a great companion. She LOVES to cuddle, lap time is her favorite!!

If you think Sherri is the one for you, please apply!

Sherri is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated.  She tested positive for heartworm and has since been treated.  Sherri will need to remain on monthly heartworm prevention for the remainder of her life.  Her adoption fee is $400.  Sherri will be arriving in Buffalo on October 16th but we are accepting applications for her now.
