My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boomer is a unique looking dog, with a unique personality as well. She may look like a pug in a pit bull body, but this big mama is all bulldog! Boomer is looking for a special type of home. Because of her rough past, she should not be in a home with dogs, cats, or kids.

Unless otherwise stated, the adoption fees for dogs over 5 months range from $50-$175. Puppies under 5 months are $175.00. Dog adoption fees include a microchip.
The adoption fee includes the animal's surgery, vaccinations, flea preventative, deworming medication, sample bag of food/treat samples and a free first exam with participating veterinarians. Shelter policy and 2018 Indiana state law decrees all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter.
Our shelter is open to the public on Monday- Saturday from 8:00 am -5:00 pm EST with the exception of Wednesdays on which we typically open by 1:00 pm. If you would like to make an appointment to meet one of our many adoptable animals, please send an email to us at pvchs@joink.com. To apply to adopt, you may download an adoption application from the Applications and Fees tab on our website. The web address is www.pvchs.org. Please email the completed application to pvchs@joink.com

Additional adoption info

An adoption application must be completed prior to adoption. This application may be completed at our facility, or it can be downloaded by visiting our web site www.pvchs.cfsites.org and choosing the "Applications and Fees" link. Once the application has been completed, it can be emailed to us at pvchs@joink.com. The usual adoption fee is $50.00 for kittens less than 1 year of age, $25.00 for cats over 1 year of age, $140.00 for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months of age, and $120.00 for dogs over 4 months of age.

All Dog/Puppy adoptions include vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, adopter bag of food and treats, adoption counseling by phone or email, and a free health exam or first office call at a (local) participating veterinarian. All Cat/Kitten adoptions include vaccines, spay/neuter, adopter bag of food, adoption counseling by phone or email, and free health exam or first office call at a (local) participating veterinarian. Microchipping for cats/kittens is available for an additional $15 with any adoption.

Fees are reduced for some long term residents and senior pets (generally dogs over 7 years old). The reduced adoption fees range from $10.00 to $50.00.

Our policy is that all pets must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. Fees may vary depending on the particular animal and the situation surrounding that animal.

We do not ship animals to adopters. Adopters are encouraged to bring all family members to help meet and select their new pet. Adopters complete an adoption application form and provide their veterinarian and landlord's phone number(s) for a reference.
