My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AJ is a Blue Fronted Amazon girl(?) parrot who many years ago, before she came to me, had her wing tips removed, so she will never be able to fly.
She is about 23 years old. I don't know really is she is a girl or a boy.

AJ is like NO OTHER parrot and doesn't want to hear about Veterinarian approved diets!
AJ will not eat more than 10% of any bird food mix (Mostly just the sunflower seeds and nuts).
She wont eat the dry fruits, or fruity bird treats none of that.
What she WILL eat, and loudly demand, is a share of whatever you get out of the fridge, or a pot on the stove.
Spaghetti? Yes Please! Cheese? At least 2 or 3 times a week!
Sandwich? Yogurt? Eggs? French Toast? Veggie soup? Pizza crust? Chicken, Yes to all.
Cheese really is her all time favorite (real cheese like cheddar!).
She wont eat raw veggies. She wont eat most raw fruits, besides Apples and green grapes and sometimes some banana.
She does love fruit juices though. And nuts, all and any kind. And baby food crackers and puffs. Unhealthy? Not So!
AJ is a very healthy bird that lived well with her chosen diet for the last 15 years.
She even gets little bits of doughnuts or alike, but of course not often.

AJ demands a place by the window. She LOVES looking out the window. She lives in a cage that is open 24/7
and generally doesn't leave. She is also not your usual "loud" parrot at all!
She wakes quietly and goes to sleep the same. She will get very noisy and excited when anyone is eating
(Don't even think you can "sneak" a snack out of the fridge) until she gets her share.

She gets noisy when someone on the outside comes close to her window. Other than that, you wont hear much from her.
She loves to destroy her toys. She is used to dogs and cats around her.

So why does AJ need a new home?
I have been torn about this. I had AJ for 15 years, but truth is, I have 0 time for this girl.
I barely ever handle her at all, never mind every day.
Her toe nails are too long and I dread cutting them because of the bleeding and pain.
I have never sanded her beak. She has a stone for that and it never seemed needed to shave off more.
Yet she appears to be a content, opinionated, healthy bird.
She doesn't speak much anymore. She used to say a few things when the kids were still home.
She'd greet them through the window when they came home from school, call the dogs and the children by their names.Whistle.
She bonded with me and likes to cuddle with me. She also loved my teenage daughter. She seems to prefer females.
I am not sure she would be right for smaller children. OH, she does not like other birds. Not near her.
ANY other birds. Male or female, same or other species, she doesn't like them.
She will argue when I ask her to step up, but doesn't ever try to bite me.

I just feel so guilty, because I never have time for her. Therefore here the adoption requirements:
I ONLY give her up, to ensure a BETTER home. To get her what she has AND what she should also have, too!

Adopter MUST have 5+ years experience with parrots her size or bigger and avian Vet records of some sort.
As she should live another 40 years or so, adopter should not be a senior.
You must have an appropriate, large cage, set up by a window with plenty of branches to get around and toys to shred. Her adoption fee is $900, half of what I paid. If you are interested please contact me at Rainbowdogstx@gmail.com. WILL NOT SHIP.
