My story

So Millie has a sweet face, but this face is full of SPECIAL REQUESTS!!! PLEASE READ before you apply to adopt Millie...

This sweet girl is a lover and is looking for a dog-savvy, adult only couple or single person to love her back! Millie came to us from a home where she had been improperly trained on an electric fence and was repeatedly being shocked when she would leave the yard. She has overcome many of her issues related to this, but she will require a home with an above ground physical fenced yard!!!

Millie does have some resource-guarding behaviors that she is currently working with a trainer on (who will help transition Millie into her new home), but she will need an adult only, experienced dog-savvy person committed to continual management of these behaviors. Due to this, NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 and again, she will need an above ground fenced yard and that means no apartments or condo type structures! We will not bend on this and in the end, Milie's trainer will have the final say of the right home for her.

Millie would love an active person who will take her to doggie daycare to get her energy out or good runs/walks. She would do fine as an only dog or with a stable, submissive dog, but NO CATS! She is also crate-trained.

Millie has a waited too long for her happy forever, and with just the right person, you can live a happy great life together! Can you be the one she deserves?

GRRAND requires that the dog is returned if it doesn't work out or if circumstances change and the owner cannot keep the dog. Also, there is a follow-up team that will contact the adopter after the adoption to assist with any questions.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
