My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET CHLOE. She is a sweet little senior yorkie who is 12 years old and weighs 6.5 lbs. Chloe is being fostered in Miami Beach, FL.
All dogs fostered in the state of Florida must be adopted within the State of Florida.
UPDATED BIO 11/10/2021: Sweet Senior Chloe was loved by her mom who had her since she was very young. But sadly, her mom became unable to care for Chloe so she became a UYR foster dog.

Chloe has been in her foster home for almost 6 weeks now. She has had her well-doggie vet check and received updated vaccinations as well as a dental.

Foster Mom reports that Chloe is definitely an outdoors kinda gal. Not only does she love her walks, but she spends a lot of time sitting at the door or window gazing outside, and just taking it all in. She is independent, but does not like to be left alone. She likes her naps, and she seems to enjoy being around children. Due to her small size, Chloe can only be adopted into a home with children 14+years old. Being an older dog, Chloe is not much into playing, but does have one or two favorite toys that keep her occupied.

Chloe seems indifferent towards other dogs. She will sniff them a couple of times, and then be on her merry way. Her foster mom feels that Chloe would be happiest as an only dog, or perhaps one other dog that is calm and mellow and close to her age and size.

Chloe seems to be a natural-born barker and thinks she needs to bark at every sound she hears, whether it’s a door opening, a person talking, or another dog. For this reason, apartment or condo living may not be the right placement for her since the neighbors could be annoyed. Chloe would prefer a single-family home, preferably one with a garden view as she loves to enjoy seeing the outdoors. What a little Diva!

Chloe has improved in her potty manners a lot – foster mom says that she will now use the potty-pads 85% of the time. Hooray! Her adoptive home will need to continue to reinforce house-training and of course, take her on long walks which she loves.

Chloe was very itchy when she arrived in her foster home, and the vet recommended a course of Apoquel which is indicated for potential allergies. Her foster mom decided to change Chloe’s diet from a chicken-based food to a beef-based food, and her itching has stopped, so apparently has a sensitivity to chicken. So … no poultry for this girlie!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT CHLOE:

- Due to her small size, Chloe can only be adopted into a home with children 14+ years old.
- Chloe prefers to be the only dog in the home, and seems indifferent to other dogs.
- Chloe enjoys being very vocal, so a single-family home would be best for her vs. apartment/condo living.
