My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome Felix!

Felix is an adorable 5 year old, 22 pound pup. He recently came into our program after his (amazing!) owner fell ill. Felix came from a complex situation and because of that, he is a tad shy. It takes him a while to open up to humans, but once he does, he bonds strongly with his people. Because of his past, he does seem to be more weary of men and bonds quicker with women in the house.

Felix does well with other dogs. We haven’t seen him around kids, but it’s likely that he would do best in a home with older children.

Right now, he spends a lot of time hanging *around* foster mom and dad, while avoiding eye contact or being touched too often by them. But he’s making progress with each passing day as he learns to trust his new human friends.

We are continuing to work with Felix and he is blossoming everyday! Stay tuned as we learn more about this sweet boy.

If you'd like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card.

This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week's worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead.

All In-State Applications will be considered with some preference given to more Local Applications. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS.

We do not have a facility and operate through a network of foster homes. Thus, we do not have a phone number. If you'd like to discuss potential adoptions, please email at adopt@athenscaninerescue.com.
