My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My  name is Lolly Rose! I'm approximately  7  years old and considered a Hound/Beagle mix with some coonhound in there too. I'm very muscular, weighing in around 4 9  pounds. I'm a scared, timid, sweet girl that is still trying to figure out simply "How to be a dog". I lost my way because I was found as a stray and just unsure what I'm supposed to do. I try to hide myself wherever I can if I'm not comfortable and in those situations, I just try to melt away. I'm really trying to work on trust and settle my nerves and have come a long way.  I've been in my foster home for over a year and have come to the point that I love all the dogs that come and go and just my Foster Mommy & Daddy.  There is a 20 year old human that is supposed to be my foster 2-legged brother, but I'm scared of him and all other visitors that come to the house.  When there are visitors, I'd rather be tucked away in my crate where I know I am safe.

When I came into the rescue, I was Heartworm positive and have now completed my treatment and have tested Heartworm free. I'm still taking it slow, but I enjoy having freedom in the main living area and the bedroom. I enjoy gathering and playing with toys, doing zoomies around the room and off the couch and get along with all the other dogs that live in my foster home. My other biggest past time is taking naps. I have seen other foster dogs come and go in my time with my foster family and have had no issue with any of the dogs once I figured out my place. I basically follow them and do what they do. I play well with the other dogs that want to play with me and I have re cently found my voice.  I'm told everyone doesn't appreciate my new found singing voice, but barking is so much fun!   I now will bark non-stop at noises I hear inside the house (whether the noise is from inside the house or outside in the neighborhood).  I'll also just stand outside and bark non-stop which drives my Foster Mom crazy sometimes.  I also bark every time the doorbell rings or even when there is a notification that comes through on my family's watch.  With this said, apartments/condos/townhomes is not the life for me.

T he good news is that I now take care of all of my business outside and never have accidents in my crate.  I sleep in the human's bedroom either on the couch, dog bed or an open crate - it's just a matter of where I feel safe at the time. I refuse to sleep in the bed with the humans, I only want to jump on and off the bed before bedtime and grab toys along the way.  G oing for walks or going places is not my favorite  - I'm basically a homebody and like to hang where I  know I am safe.   Let's just say I don't like change including moving the furniture, fast movements, different people including visitors and repairmen coming to the house.

I also must have a fenced in yard since I'm considered a high flight risk due to my fears.  If I got away, I would never stop running because I wouldn't know what I'm supposed to do. Having a fence has helped me feel safe and "have my freedom", but still feel safe in a controlled environment. I seriously just like to go out to take care of business, sniff the air and then bark as loud and as much as I can. When I'm done, I'll come back inside just to do it all over again.

I have blossomed so much in the past 1 4  months and I will become more confident with time, but I'm worth the wait, if I do say so myself. I'm looking for a family that will be extremely patient and understanding, who will love me unconditionally and let me go at my own pace. They say. "Slow and stead wins the race". Another requirement is I can't be an only dog - it's too scary and I need another dog to show me that it's ok.

So, in summary my demands are a fenced in yard, another dog to show me what to do, must love my singing voice and absolutely have to be patient and work with me on building my trust with you.

I would love to meet my new family soon, I've been waiting for you. If you would like to meet me, please submit an adoption application for me today!
