My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jack
Jack was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him. It was love at first sight for everyone who’s met him. Sadly, we seem to be the only ones who love Jack…and we’ve loved him every day of his young life. His dejection at growing up in a kennel is palpable, but he remains hopeful and eager that his furever home will find him. He has a wonderful, sweet and affectionate personality. He came to us as a puppy at only nine months old. Under our care, he’s grown into a confident, outgoing young pup. He loves everyone he meets. Jack is super smart and calm. He LOVES playing fetch. He’s athletic. If he’s not playing fetch, he loves a good belly rub. He loves to be petted and welcomes attention. Jack will need to be an only pet, preferring not to be with other dogs or cats. He will need a containment fence to keep him safe.
We believe Jack to be a Shar -Pei/Bulldog mix. He is 2.4 years old and medium size. He’s a handsome brindle boy, with an open and friendly face and earnest eyes. He does sometimes have skin issues, but that may be the Shar-Pei in him and it’s easily treated.
Jack will be a loyal and loving fur baby companion. He so deserves a soft landing. He’s been a good boy who has been overlooked for too long. He’s a gem and we pray his furever family or person finds him soon.
If interested in Jack, please submit an application online at:
https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application
Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with a current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website:
http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also rescued from local and area Animal Controls. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only. Complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. An application doesn’t commit you or us to an adoption, but it allows our coordinator to begin the review process.
