My story

Say hi to Cody! He is a goofy guy, who LOVES food more than just about anything!

Cody was transferred to us from another shelter when they discovered he was FIV+, and in need of dental cleaning and some teeth removed. He had his dental surgery and is feeling GREAT now!!

Let's talk a little more about FIV though...

FIV cats live normal lives, with other cats in the home too! FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. That just means cats like Cody have a lower immune system and could get sick easier, similar to many conditions humans have too that affect our immune systems.

FIV is not contagious to your other cats in the home except via very aggressive blood-drawing bite wounds, so most FIV+ cats can live safely with FIV- cats. Cats who are FIV+ also tend to live very normal and long happy lives, FIV alone is not shown to shorten their life or their quality of life!!

Help end the stigma today and consider adopting an FIV+ cat!
