My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tuxedo (“Tux”) has the sweetest disposition and will brighten your days with his happy-go-lucky attitude. With him, you get the best of both worlds: He’s cheery, fun, playful and also loves calm and quiet time, wanting to cuddle up next to you. He wants to be by your side and experience life together. He loves all people and is good with children. We recommend kids 12 and up because he could accidentally knock down smaller children. Tux gets along well with other dogs. He has never lived with cats, but we did cat test him and it seems like he would do fine with them. He is almost 3 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. His Breed mix is likely Shepherd, Lab, Bully/Pittie. Tux is neutered, housetrained, walks nicely on leash, is up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped.

Tux is the epitome of resilience. Life was not easy for him before being rescued. He was abandoned in a remote area, with both of his hips out of socket. Tux’s body had compensated for this condition, and he was still able to walk and run, with a bit of a unique gait that’s adorable and adds to his charm. A visit to the veterinary orthopedic surgeon revealed that although he had good mobility and didn’t show signs of pain, he actually had a lot of discomfort in his hip joint area. Tux had learned to deal with it and acted as if the pain didn’t exist. Fortunately, a medical sponsor stepped up to pay for FHO surgery on both hips. The surgery on the first hip in November went perfectly. The final surgery on the second hip took place in January of this year. Tux recovered from that surgery like a champ! He no longer has hip joint pain and has full mobility.

Tuxedo is a shining example that you can overcome obstacles and move forward to live life to the fullest!
