My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Joanie
My Brother and I were found in the high desert wandering in search of food and nearly starving to death, and I was pregnant-By my brother :( The lady that trapped us and took us to her home and fed us and worked with us to help us build trust, but then she got sick. So we came to this amazing rescue just before Xmas, rescue mom said I looked like a skelton with a softball in my belly...we were only babies ourselves, but I became a MOM and I had my babies here, with my rescue moms help and brother/father by my side supervising and cheering me on without running for his life, checking each baby out to make sure they were ok!, that was a long time ago. I lost one baby and my other 2 daughter look just like us and are also bonded, Sierra is a special needs, mom says she is 'Pawtistic', She is a little overweight but she's a hoot! my third daughter Savannah is wonderful and watches out for her Sister Sierra.

My Brother and I still have alot of trust issues, we trust our rescue mom, its taken her alot of work and time, we have been to adoption events and people just love us, but we are skittish are new people, we do love everyone, but rescue mom says its likely we are multi-generational inbred dogs, which accounts for our special needs status. We are Runners, But she feels with the right Mom/Dad, with consistency, patience and kindness, and dog treats of course we would learn to love and trust a new family too. Babies, School Age children and other dogs would be additional challenge. we love our dogs buddies here, we've all been together for a long time now. We enter the crate on demand when the rescue is unattended. We are smart and obey mom. We are not aggressive at all, and love to be loved - if you can catch us.
We are scared that someone will hurt us or take us to a bad place again. Rescue mom call us timid now, but she used to call us feral...!! So that is improvement. They are nice here and we take treats from their hands and feel blessed to have been saved from us and our precious babies dying in the desert... we love to play with our rescue pack mates, we like to and hunt and chase lizards. We love our good food and our morning treats (very motivating) we do like car rides (with precautionary measures for escape). We are pee pad trained, doggie door trained and live a kennel free life here, coexisting with others and all of us are 'free fed' we graze and eat when we want to.

I think that someone blessed with a gift of love and patience, that is somewhat a home body would be the perfect home for me, or me and my brother, to learn to be completely fear free and understand that I will ever go anywhere but to the couch to cuddle. I hope there is someome out there for me/us.... rescue mom needs to find us a home, she is not well. Please remember to save a life, Adopt/Rescue, so many of us are dying in shelters, we and our rescue moms cant do it alone....
Thank you for taking time to read my story, With Love Joanie

80% of our rescued dogs are located in loving foster homes in Southern California. At the time of their rescue, From experience, if unknown, the dogs are Assessed for temperament, health, training and we offer our best guess on breed mix and age

We always try to answer calls/emails in a timely manner. Please allow a window of 48 hours to return/answer to your inquiry. We do not ship dogs, however, With prior Application Package Approval and Courtesy Home Check by a local Rescue to your home, Out of state adopters can fly in to meet and adopt our dogs, when adopting the dog must fly in cabin home with the adopter.

Home inspection and an Application are required for all adoptions and must be arranged prior to all meet and greets, if it is a match an Adoption Contract must be signed. We appreciate your interest in our dogs, however, there are no exceptions to the above. Our ultimate goal is to find a Perfect Match for our dogs specific personality and needs as well the adopters, so that your new family member will live out their life in a loving environment.

We have a PUPPY POLICY!
For the benefit of the little ones, our rescue requires that there be an existing dog and people friendly dog in the home, or consider adoption of a second dog, either thru this rescue or another. The purpose of this is for continued mental and social growth, puppies will learn from, play with and bond with the dog as pack animals are intended. This helps to develop a well rounded adult dog that will not have separation anxiety, be destructive being alone with out company to keep them busy and will help to prevent guarding issues with their humans. To prevent future behavioral issues with other dogs and/or humans. If you do not have another dog, you can consider another dog from RLDR. If you do not have another dog, and you are applying for a puppy under a year old, your application will be denied. NO DOG should ever live alone! Every dog needs a buddy. Good Behaviors are learned in puppyhood… ❤ For puppies under 6mos of age, there is an Addendum to the Adoption Contract which includes dates for vaccinations and spay / neuter at appropriate age. All other dogs available for adoption are spayed / neutered or will be prior to go into their new home.

More about this rescue

Recycled LoVe DoG Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization - EIN 46-4136670

MISSION STATEMENT

RECYCLED LOVE DOG RESCUE organization is fully dedicated to, and believes that all humans are morally responsible to assist Animals in dire need and show dignity, empathy and compassion for all animals. To offer a safe haven to the displaced, to report abuse and neglect of animals. To be leaders, to protect and treat animals that they would expect to be treated themselves.

With our team of committed volunteers, loving foster homes, veterinarians, trainers, private pilots and boarding partners, we have been able to save the lives of 100’s of dogs since 2011. And with the love and generosity of our contributors, we have been able to provide each dog with any necessary medical care and treatments, spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations, deworming. But the work NEVER ends.

Our efforts are to save dogs from high-kill shelters, take in owner surrender dogs and assist lost or strays and make every effort to reunite dogs with their families. With our home base in California, where dogs are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, or owners who can no longer care for their pets for whatever reason, we do our best to save as many lives as possible with the funding we have available.

We work with rescue partners throughout the USA to save and relocate California shelter dogs, arranging transport via ground or air. Historically, we have always saved those most in need, the sick, broken, elder, terrified, Mom and babies. All are examined and treated by our contracted veterinarian, healed mentally and physically, rehabilitated and loved, until ready for the new chapter of their life and meet their new Loving Family and Home. The life they should have had and deserved since the day they were born.

We make every effort to place them with well-matched, carefully screened permanent loving homes and families. We believe in providing the public with information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, child to pet education, good nutrition, adjustment period, veterinary care and Fur parenting commitment.
