My story

HSOV Kitty Tinker (aka Tinkie) has a long history with HSOV since he was born in foster care a few days after his mother (Dolly Madison) gave birth to five beautiful kittens. Tinker was the first-born kitten so we imagine that mom always loved him best. Tinker was neutered and adopted when he was still a young guy but was returned in 2016-2017 when he lost his home.

So he quickly became a favorite and was given status as a ‘Shelter Mascot Kitty’. Tinkie is a bit of a character with some quirky traits (which only adds to his charm). He has been the ‘Self-Appointed Assistant to the HSOV Adoptions Clerk’ for several years. Tinker sleeps on the job a lot and (when awake) walks across the computer keyboard and enters ‘misinformation’, and clears items from Sharon Morris’ desk with deliberate swipes of his huge paws.

Though we dearly love Tinkie, we feel that he would be much happier spending his retirement years in a permanent home where he will be loved 24 hours a day instead of just 8-hours a day during his normal ‘work shift’. Tinker has been neutered, is up-to-date on vaccinations, and has been combo tested. He has gained a few pounds since some of these photos were taken and currently weighs in the range of 12-15 pounds.

Tinker has a black short smooth coat with a few white hairs on his chest, a long tail, and adorable face. He has a sweet, lovable disposition.

This big guy loved to romp/play silly kitten games with his siblings when he was a kitten, and he is still very playful today.

Tinker was neutered on June 26, 2015.

Tinker was placed in our 'Senior Kitty Room' when he came back to the shelter and though he doesn't qualify for a senior discount card, he has fit in nicely with the lovely senior ladies in that room.

Tinker is up-to-date on vaccinations as of November 16, 2021. He was combo tested on November 15, 2021 and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm.

Tinker loves to perch atop file cabinets and other lofty places, and he is a wanna-be shoulder kitty.

Tinker has always been a good sport (and willing participant) in many of our holiday costume party pictures .. and we love taking candid shots of him 'sleeping on the job' and writing cute stories about his antics.

Because of his chronic URI issues, Tinkie is now confined to a large cat tower in our lobby and no longer had 'free-roaming' privileges in the lobby/office areas. He is becoming somewhat depressed and is yearning for an indoor retirement home where he could pussyfoot around (and knock items off tables/countertops) to his heart's content.

UPDATE: Tinkie went home with a compassionate foster mother on February 2, 2023 who will give him the medical care that he requires .. And (perhaps best of all), Tinkie will enjoy being in a real home environment instead of being in a large cat tower in our shelter. We know that he will LOVE his newly-found freedom!
