My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! I am Max. My foster mom says that I am a very handsome guy. I will be three years old in November and I weigh a bit less than 7.5 pounds. If you didn’t notice, I also have really cute floppy ears.
I came into rescue when my owners decided that they didn’t have any time for me. They kept me either in the bathroom or in my crate when I lived with them. I would not have been adoptable in the shelter so I was very lucky that a nice woman named Jerri rescued me.
I am very sweet once I warm up to you. I am a bit stand offish at first, but I warm up really quickly. Once I warm up, my heart belongs to you. I want nothing more than to be with you and love you. I will follow you around and sit with you. I love to lay in bed with you and when you are not there, I *love* to lie on your pillow. My mom says that I am a really good bed buddy too.
I have done really well with my potty training. My foster mom said that I really do need a fenced yard so that I can warm up to you. I also like to roam around the yard protecting you from birds, squirrels and those pesky neighbors. I try to sound really big when I bark at them to keep you safe. However, I do well on a leash and LOVE to go in the car.
I do really well with other small dogs. I also do alright with cats. I some times like to play chase with them, but a stern no will keep me in line.
I need a quiet home. It appears that someone might have yelled at me a lot and struck me often. So a soft spoken home would be great for me. That means no kids in the home or that visit often. Older children, 13 and up *should* be fine.
I would really like to stay in the Florida panhandle (Pensacola) region, but Tallahassee, Jacksonville and St. Pete region might be alright too.
