My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Zoey. I am a Dalmatian pup who just turned one. I give big SMILES to the humans I love.
BUT My foster mom says that if you look up obnoxious on Google, it may have my picture there. That is because I am still a puppy and will be until I am two.
I am smart. I am fast. I am playful and I love dogs, people, puppies, and short people (FM calls them littles). But I can sometimes choose to do what I know I shouldn’t. The main issue is that I am the BEST, fastest counter surfer you have ever met or heard of. THAT is what my photo should be on Google for!!! I can get food from a kid who is walking, from next to my FM’s hand when she is standing next to it at the counter….and I am gone before anyone can even say NO, No bad dog!!
I also kill kleenex boxes. FM doesn't understand why I feel they all must die but that is that. Truth.
The rest of my life is pretty tame. I play with the other dogs here, kiss kids, and generally love life. I am getting better about not jumping on the humans around here though I still need reminding.
I take treats nicely and know I need to be sitting to get a treat (except those I steal). I can jump into and out of the car and I know what “outside” and “inside” mean.
If I grab something that is not mine, I show it to FM. She says I can keep it (like a cardboard paper towel tube) or to “drop it”. If she says for me to drop it, I do! Then we go get a cookie for a trade. I am very good at drop it and leave it. For instance, when I grab mom’s knee brace, I run by her so she can see what I have, then she tells me to drop it. Cookie time. Now you are asking yourself if I grab naughty things just to get a cookie. That is possibly true. But would you rather I grabbed it and went into the corner to chew it up? Nope, FM doesn’t either. And I have never chewed up anything I shouldn’t! Mostly. Honest.
My history: I came with AKC papers from a breeder but the people who bought me weren’t prepared for a busy puppy. I spent my first nine months out in a pen or inside at night in a crate. No training, no exercise. I did not learn any of the social or house manners things most puppies learn until I came here. Now I am pretty good at house manners but FM says, let’s be clear- I am STILL a puppy. I have a smart brain but it is still a PUPPY BRAIN. You will need to take me to school for social manners (like how to focus on you with distractions- dogs and people around, come when called, and polite walking on leash). You will have to teach me at home for home manners (for instance, what to do if the doorbell rings) so I can be a well behaved girl. Remember, I am still a puppy and puppies, just like human kids, need to be taught right from wrong and good vs. evil.
I want to please. Like Dalmatians all over, I love my humans and want them to be happy. I love, love, love cuddling on the couch at night when we watch TV and I like to sleep next to FM with my head on her lap. FM says to look up pictures on Google of smiling Dalmatians because she thinks a smiling Dalmatian is the BEST kind of Dalmatian to have.
If you think you are the family for me, with plenty of time for me, not gone long hours during the day or evening, ready to have a playmate, maybe have another playful young dog, and have a super exercise plan because- hey! I am a Dalmatian puppy- drop her an email or give her a call.
Love, Zoey
