My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Java”, a beautiful brown tabby cat was found as part of a cat colony, living in a creek bed behind a gas station. A trapping session ensued, and everyone was brought safely into foster care. All cleaned up nicely, and Java has spent some time in the foster home learning that these “human” creatures can be pretty good buddies after all. He is 5 years old and has been waiting for quite a while now, hoping to find his forever home.

Java is an inquisitive kitty and likes to give all visitors’ hands a very thorough sniff (sometimes followed by little kitty kisses). He’s still just a little shy due to his rough start in life, but a little patience will pay off big time; he LOVES a good petting session and will rev up the purr-motor for a quiet and gentle touch. While he’s past the super crazy kitten stage, he’s still quite energetic and loves toys, especially the jingle ball and the kitty fishing rod. Java will be a constant companion and light up the home for the right person!

Because he is still a bit shy and will need an acclimation period to his new home, Java is looking for a household with some prior cat experience and without small children. He gets along beautifully with other cats -- you can see him in the photo snuggling with his buddy, Annie. He could be a great choice if you are looking for a buddy for your current cat, or could go home with one of our other adoptable cats. He would also do fine as a single cat, as long as he receives plenty of attention.

Java has been neutered, vaccinated, and tested FIV/FELV negative. He took to using the litterbox like a pro! There is an adoption donation to the Feral Cat Foundation (an all-volunteer organization, which helped get him out of a bad situation and provided all of his medical care) to help us continue our work with homeless cats.

If you would like to meet this wonderful kitty, please give us a call or email!
