My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOR ADOPTION: CINNA is an approximately 3 year old, 50lb female Akita/Karelian Bear Dog mix. Cinna is an incredibly intelligent and athletic dog that will require you to earn her respect and partnership vs blindly doing what she is told. Cinna won’t be a great match for a fist time dog owner or someone that just wants a buddy to cuddle on the couch but if you’re dog savvy, enjoy training and willing to put in the time to build a strong connection Cinna is going to be a fun, engaging companion. This pretty girl can clear 6ft fences with coyotes rollers on top if she wants to, she has learned how to open latches on gates and is the world record holder for getting out of a typical harness or collar if she doesn’t want to be wearing it. A well fenced yard will just be seen as a mental challenge for Cinna, so we are looking for someone committed to only having her outside while with them. Her amazing athletic ability makes her a great candidate to be a mountain biking, ski touring, or dog sport buddy. Her intelligence and natural ability make her an amazing scent work or tracking prospect. Cinna is quite hit and miss with other dogs and although she has lived with cats in the past we think she would be best suited as an only pet until she has a strong, working partnership with her new family. Cinna does have a history of food guarding. We are able to easily manage her by only feeding her in her kennel in small meals that do not get left out and teaching her that she needs to sit and make eye contact before being given her food. Despite the strides that Cinna is making towards managing her food guarding tendencies we do know that she has bit in her previous home when a child got too close to her while she was eating and so, we are looking for a teenage plus aged home for Cinna. She needs to live with people mature enough to all be on the same page around her feeding routine. Cinna is an intense girl that does need a home that will provide strong leadership but once she is bonded with you she does let that intensity fade away. With those that have earned her respect, Cinna can be a playful and cuddly girl that enjoys rolling in the snow and getting cuddles. She is clean and non destructive in her kennel (when her needs are being met) and she travels beautifully in the vehicle. Cinna is spayed, vaccinated and up to date on parasite control. If you’ve been looking for a canine companion that will thrive with consistent training and stimulation apply today at www.NWAS.ca for a chance to meet CINNA. #NWASCINNA
