My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because we are an international rescue through Taiwan. The dogs are likely still in Taiwan and you will have to meet your dog(s) and pick your dog(s) up from the airport.

International airport for picking up dogs:
【SFO、SEA、LAX/ONT、JFK、IAH、ORD、YVR、YYZ、AMS】

In June 2021, one of Life of Hope’s partnered rescuers went to a very popular tourist spot of the historical “Lu-Gang Town” in southern Taiwan, and saw a weak black dog being hit by a car. Luckily for the black dog, the impact was not too strong and Mey did not suffer any broken bones. She ran off in panic and had a limp. The cruel driver did not even stop and check. Most of the tourists did not really care or pay attention to help this skinny little black dog (these types of dogs are very common on Taiwanese streets and most people don’t care for them). It was really hard on the rescuer as she has countless experience rescuing dogs, she knew she had to do something. Because Mey was very traumatized, it took a while for the rescuer to find and trap Mey. She immediately took Mey to a vet hospital for check-up, and saw all sorts of small and larger wounds on her body.
The veterinarian hospital staff could not find any microchip in her, and they couldn’t be sure if she was abandoned or was part of the TNR (trap, neuter/spay & return) program. The rescuer held out small hope of finding her family, but after 6 months, no one came forward to claim her. These black dogs are too common on Taiwanese streets, and they are the hardest kind of dog to be adopted, let alone Mey is not a puppy.
In the 6-month that Mey was under the care of the rescuer, she found that Mey is very gentle and loves affection from people. On all the outings that the rescuer would take her – regardless the trip was to busy restaurants or on car rides, Mey was unfazed and was very well behaved. Mey gets a bit shy in the beginning when meeting strangers, but she warms up quickly and would approach to sniff new friends’ hands as a show of friendliness. Mey is willing to try new things and go to new places. Mey will only go to the bathroom outside. In the past 6 months that she stayed with the rescuer, she’s often left alone at home, and she has never had issues of damaging furniture in the house. She gets along well with other dogs but shows no interest in cats. She should be fine in families with either dogs or cats.
We just want to clarify that Mey did not sustain any lasting injuries from the car accident – she only suffered cuts and scrapes on her body, and has now fully recovered. Please do not worry about any impact on her physical health at all.
If you are interested in Mey, please connect with us! We would be more than happy to share all the details about her with you.
