My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nola! Nola is a beautiful, smart, affectionate young shepherd with a tiger-striped coat and a playful spirit. Nola is always ready for an adventure! If you're looking for an active companion to get out there and do fun activities with Nola is your girl. Her natural athleticism makes her the perfect jogging, fetch, or frisbee partner, and if you're looking to get more involved in the community you could even join a sports club and participate in different events such as agility and obedience with her! Like a typical New Orleanian, Nola loves enjoying beignets after exercising. She especially loves beignets if they include hanging out with you in City Park. Nola already knows "sit" and learned her name in a day. She is very treat motivated and will be easy to continue training. She bonds quickly to her people and gets very excited to see you, even if you've only been gone 5 minutes (adorable).

Nola would thrive in a loving, active home where she can be a part of the family. Nola is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She also comes with a FREE training session from GoodPup to help you build a strong bond from the start. If you're ready to add some excitement and joy to your life, please consider welcoming Nola into your home. This cutie won't last long so come meet her on the New Orleans Campus, at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. She can't wait to meet you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The LA/SPCA pet adoption process includes meeting with a matchmaker to match your lifestyle with the perfect companion. You will spend time with any of the pets you think would be a great companion. You may even want to come back another day to make sure he is the one! All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before you can take them home. Sometimes your perfect companion has not had this procedure done, so please be patient with us if you have to come back to pick him up.

All of our animals have been spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. We encourage anyone with animals to spay or neuter their pets.

More about this shelter

Chartered in 1888, the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state. Our mission is to advocate for the animals of Louisiana by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests, and fostering the human-animal bond through innovative programs, education, and service.

The LA/SPCA is not a state, parish or city governed shelter. We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit offering a broad range of services and programs including advocacy, legislative services, statewide cruelty investigations, sheltering, full-service animal control (Orleans Parish only), adoption, disaster response, education, and obedience programs.
