Mama Bear was surrendered to a rural shelter with 3 other male guinea pigs and babies on board. She delivered two healthy baby girls on December 12, 2021! They were moved to foster care where they are all thriving and ready to move onto their forever homes. Guinea Pigs do have to live in a setting with at least two piggies or they will not survive. Because this is a family of 3, we are hoping to place them all together; however, if a family has one piggie they are looking to adopt a friend for, we can separate one from the bunch. They will do just fine being separated as long as they have a piggie buddy to share a living space with.
Mama Bear is very well socialized. She comes up for attention and loves being held. She has been around children and other dogs without a fear in the world. She makes the sweetest sounds - chirps and purrs.
She has not been spayed since the risk of surgery for Guinea Pigs is very high and it is not necessary unless they are around other male piggies - which she is not as her babies are all females. If you are interested in adopting Mama Bear and or her babies (Felicia and Brittany), complete an online application at: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/
