Chesney – 6 years old •At the shelter since February 1, 2022 Chesney came to us from a severe hoarding and neglect situation. She arrived with burns down her back, fleas, poor nutrition, and a lot of fear. After a long journey of healing and learning to trust again, she’s finally ready for a home. Chesney will need a quiet household and lots of patience while she settles in—it may take weeks or longer for her to feel comfortable, but she is worth it. Chesney is FIV positive. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) FIV is an auto immune disorder. Cats affected with this virus often are unable to fight off illnesses as well as cats that are not positive. How do cats get the virus? FIV spreads among cats is through bite wounds or from mom. These are typically pretty aggressive fights. •Can FIV and non FIV live together? Studies have shown the cats can live together without transferring the disease. This is at the owners discretion and we ask for you to do your homework. Can people or dogs get FIV? No! They can live with other animals just fine. Ask about her today!
