My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Huck!

Hello, I'm Huck. I was found as a stray in 2013, and I lived with the same loving family for 8 years, up until recently. I'm about 9 years old and weigh 57 pounds. I'm a sweet and sensitive guy, and my sensitive nature has proven to be the wrong fit with the 2 year old in the home I was in. The fast movements of something that little, and him pulling my fur make me nervous. So, I will need a new home with no little kids under 10. I do, however, get along just fine with other dogs, and even cats! My foster mom says my house manners are amazing. The only time I really bark is if someone is at the door. I go outside to do my pottying business, and although I can hold it for long periods of time, it's not healthy, and a trip outside is always nice to do some sniffing anyway.

I'm really starting to like my foster mom, even though she's a new-to-me human. I've been taking some meds to help my anxiety, but she says I haven't shown any anxiety in her house, so it was probably just the kid that made me anxious. She gives really good belly and ear rubs, which I love! I'm a super smart boy and I know "sit", "down", and "shake" or "paw". I do well in the car, and when I went to the vet I was so patient, and didn't have issues with meeting new people or dogs. Now all I need in my life is to find a loving, easy going, calm family to show me all the things this life has to offer!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
