My story

Hello, I'm Violet! I am a 1 year, dilute calico...STUNNING! I came to TAPS from a nearby humane society. I am a sweet and sassy little girl. I enjoy playing with toys, chasing things, climbing the cat trees, and a little canned food snack. I am busy and curious. I am in an open cat room with a few other cats and am doing just fine with them. I enjoy being petted and near my human friends, but am a bit opinionated, and like things on my terms. Applications are processed in the order that they are received. Our puppies and kittens are extremely popular and receive a significant number of applications. We ask for your patience as we work through them.

More about this shelter

TAPS-Tazewell Animal Protective Society was founded in 1958 in Pekin Illinois in a building donated by the City of Pekin on River Road. In 1979, rapidly rising river water forced the evacuation of the animals. Once again, the City of Pekin stepped in and donated a building for the animals. Several moves later, and with the help and generosity of many volunteers and community members, TAPS now has a new home at 100 TAPS Lane. Last year we celebrated 50 year of caring for the homeless animals of Central Illinois.
