My story

Meet Marilyn! Marilyn is a very special girl. She is around 2 and about 45 lbs - the foster did a DNA test on her and she is 48% Australian Shepherd, 42% Pit Bull/Staffordshire. She was a stray for most or all of her 2 years of life. Some extremely dedicated rescue workers in Kentucky managed to gain her trust, and she is now in a very loving and patient foster home learning that life inside is amazing. She enjoys Arby's plain roast beef sandwiches keto style (aka no bun!). She loves licking the resident cats. She is obsessed with things she didn't have as a stray like toys, chew bones, and couches! She is almost 100% potty trained and she is gentle when she takes treats. She is very very shy and is in particular afraid of men, so her new family will need to be understanding, patient, and willing to take time to work with her.  Starfish will help set her up for success in her new home with a session with some wonderful trainers. You will find that once you meet Marilyn, she will steal your heart!

The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff. Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application. We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice! Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
