🌶Jalapeño is seeking Sanctuary 🌶
Current Location: Toledo Ohio
Jalapeño is a 20 year old pony mare who was rescued from a neglect situation. However, unlike emaciated horses, instead of not being fed, they fed Jallie everything. From sweet potatoes, to chocolate eclairs and bread, to marshmallows. She had a founder episode and spent nearly two weeks at Ohio State University to begin trimming and correcting her feet. Vet’s believe with proper diet, exercise (in moderation) and continual trims that she will be just fine. She did have radiographs that showed minimal rotation of the bone.
Jallie has some special accommodations. She is 1000 pounds and vets would prefer her to be around 700-800 tops. So she has a bit of a diet plan and metabolic medications to take daily. She has sway back, and needs to be on a dry lot/turnout pen as the sugars in grass can continue/exacerbate her laminitis. She isn’t rideable (I know most Sanctuaries don’t ride. But I have to state this.) and is a very sassy and personable girl worth all the extra time. We are looking for a Sanctuary within 4-5 hours of the Toledo Ohio area. Coggins Negative. Sanctuaries with 501(c)(3) will recieve free transfer of guardianship. Private Sanctuaries without federal tax exempt status would be considered private adopters and would pay $250. Private Adoption is NOT first come first served. Adopters subject to farm check, vet references, an application and contract. Jallie is not for a riding home. Not even children pony rides.
We can haul her to you within 4 hours. Anything beyond this may not be in Jallie’s best interest for pain and her trailering anxiety.
We truly wish we could provide permanent placement for Jallie, but we are out of room. Our six acres is maxed. So we hope to find a Sanctuary or Forever Farmily for this special girl. Please share!
