My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fenced yard: Preferred

Maverick is a gorgeous, sweet boy who’s also quite shy and scared. He is a 10-month-old dog that has not had much experience at being a house dog and has had limited experience with the outside world. The great news is that Maverick is making good progress at his loving foster home!

When he is outdoors, he is much more comfortable. Once he settled in at his foster home’s environment, his personality started to come out and his foster mom reports that he is a playful, fun-loving dog who is slowly but surely learning to be more confident.

Maverick has learned that if he comes to his foster mom, whether indoors or out, it usually results with him getting a treat or two. Given his shyness, this is quite an accomplishment! Although more comfortable with women than men, in general, it takes Maverick some time to warm up to people, but once he does, he wants nothing more than a good butt rub and a nice head pat. He is slowly getting to know people and is beginning to trust them as well.

Although intrigued by the cats in the house, Maverick just loves both foster dogs in the home. They like nothing better than to play and then play some more. At his foster home he has a fenced in backyard which is not a requirement but is preferred; it allows him to safely run and play. He needs multiple walks a day since he is young, full of energy, and in need of leash walking practice. It is also very beneficial for him to have another playful, young and confident canine.

Maverick is crate trained but WANTS to be by his people as much as possible, especially at night. Maverick will thrive well with a schedule, a quiet home, good food & treats, positive training, and gentle treatment. Your patience will be key to his success. With your love, this beautiful boy will be your forever dog.
