My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SOCIAL MEDIA HASHTAG: #sterlingsstory)

AGE: 7yrs

WEIGHT: 70

DOGS:  Selective - needs calm and slow introductions w/o dog in his face. Does have many canine friends.

DOG RESTRICTIONS:  No highly active dogs. Needs calm dogs that will respect his space due to blindness, and be willing to be patient w/him.

CATS:  Unknown but preferably NO due to not liking animals in his face or near his food.

CHILDREN: Fine

OTHER ANIMALS (birds, exotics, farm animals, etc):  unknown

FENCED YARD REQUIRED:  Yes

GOOD OFF LEASH:  No - ROAMER/RUNNER

GROOMING/SHEDDING NEEDS:  None

MEDICAL ISSUES:  Blind - bilateral cataracts; Alopecia

MEDICATIONS: Melatonin for Alopecia

SPECIAL NEEDS: YES - Sterling is partially blind due to cataracts

ANXIETY:  Can show some anxiety in the transition to a new setting. Also has crate anxiety so cannot be left in one. Has developed some separation anxiety which could possibly go away in a home without dogs.

BARKING:  High when he wants something (e.g. to go potty)

EXPERIENCED OWNER NEEDED: Probably

CRATE TRAINED:  Yes but doesn't need

HOUSE TRAINED:  Yes

GOOD IN CAR:  Yes but will climb in front seat

FUN FACTS:  Sterling loves the sunshine and strolling around the yard, and he's a BIG fan of his toys. He is quite the gardener, too, if you count snoozing beside you while you do the work. ;0) Just watch out because he's a strawberry thief! He is extremely affectionate and kind, as well as a fantastic greeter. He can't see you with his eyes, but he still welcomes you with his heart and hands out kisses. He is a happy guy who loves to hang out with you. Just understand that he does require a fence and he does pull hard on a leash (very strong). He would do best as an only dog, or could have a very calm dog with an experienced owner. No active dogs for siblings, however, and no cats. Sterling is a lovely, lovely boy, full of fun antics, siliness, and charm. He loves toys and dancing around the house with them, carrying them in his mouth everywhere he goes. He'll even entertain you with a song and dance holding his toys! SO much character in this guy!  If you want a bright, big smiling, happy boy, Sterling is a wonderful choice.
