***BEHAVIOR TEST***

DOG TEST: (Good with Dogs) Finley has been around other dogs before and does great. He would do good in a home with other high energy dogs.

CAT TEST: (Good with Cats) Finley has been tested with a cat at the shelter and he did great. He would do good in a home with cats.

KID TEST: (Good with Kids) Finley does great with kids, but may do better with older kids that can handle his size and energy.
HOUSE BROKEN: (Needs Work) Finley needs more chances to go outside for a potty break, but he will go potty when he is taken outside for walks.
ENERGY LEVEL: (Medium-High) Finley is a very loving boy that loves to play with tennis balls. He enjoys doing tricks for treats and will take them gently from the hand of the person giving it to him. Finley is a typically husky that likes to sing to the other dogs and will let people know he wants attention! Finley loves to play with the other dogs at the shelter and has already made many friends here!

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm

We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.

Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.

When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
