ABOUT DAVID - In foster - After being found in poor condition as a stray, David is flourishing from the love, warmth, and comfort of a caring home thanks to his foster parents! - David is a foodie! He loves checking out the kitchen and `singing` for meals to remind everyone when it’s breakfast time! - David is a bit reserved and prefers his independence. However, once he’s designated you as his favourite human, you can expect him to join you on the couch for a Netflix binge or two. - He enjoys being pampered with long brush sessions and forehead scritches to look and feel his best! - Like any showman, David’s got a solid routine that includes sunbathing in the morning and relaxing in the evening. - David has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species. - David’s got a big, beautiful heart that requires a bit of extra care because of a murmur. He may require yearly cardiac tests in addition to physical exams to ensure all is well. - David also lives with stage 2 kidney disease, which is easily managed with a special diet. - He is showing great progress with his low-calorie diet and takes some medications with supplements to help with his GI health. - David is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.
DAVID’S IDEAL HOME - David would prefer a home where he can be centre stage, ideally without children and other animals. - David does not require medication for FIV, but it is recommended that he go for veterinary check-ups twice a year. - Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family.
