My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There are many wonderful ways to describe this bonded pair of siblings…deliciously sweet, playful, loyal, protective, intelligent, loving and gentle are just a few…

Tyler and Amber were reluctantly surrendered to us by their owner and are now in search of a forever home together. They will absolutely fill your home with joy and laughter!

Tyler is a real cuddle bug who truly enjoys being hugged and kissed by his people. He will patiently wait until you’ve stopped loving him even after he’s had his fill. His sweet soul will shine through after one look into his gentle eyes. Tyler enjoys playing with his sister and chasing her in the yard. He plays nicely with children, too. He enjoys his naps after lengthy playtimes.

Amber is a princess in every sense of the word! She loves being pampered and massaged. She’ll let you know that she wants some petting by nudging your hand. She loves bath time and considers it her personal spa time! Amber is a sweet and sassy girl who looks and acts more like a puppy. This quirky girl will perform for you to get more attention. She’s a smart and funny pup who will melt your heart!

Both Tyler and Amber are 11 year old Shar Pei/German Shepherd mixes who are heart worm free, up to date on vaccinations, neutered/spayed and microchipped. They are currently at our Freeport location. If you would like to meet this dynamic duo, please download our adoption application and email the completed form to adopt@bobbicares.org. Kindly keep in mind that our adoptions are local only (NYC area and Long Island).

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require all potential adopters to complete an adoption form. We will make arrangements to meet with you, inspect the home where the animal will live, and, once approved, you'll be able to take home your new family member. Fees will be discussed with potential adopters.

We also require that adopters keep us updated on the well being of their pets and, if for any reason they are no longer able to keep the animal, they MUST call us to return the animal to us. We will pick up if necessary.

More about this rescue

Bobbi and the Strays believe that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs.

Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally, we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.

Through the years our mission has evolved from just rescue and adoption to community service and educational programs to improve the quality of life to all of the NYC boroughs and Long Island.

Our rescues are brought to schools to provide awareness, help prevent animal abuse and bullying by demonstrating and teaching love, compassion, and respect for life.

By establishing a program that serves low-income families, the elderly and disabled individuals, we bring the communities and animals together for a life of harmony through love and compassion for all.

Bobbi and the Strays is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt animal welfare organization, and a no-kill agency.
