My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Brownsburg, Indiana
DOB: 03/29/18 (estimate)

Stormy is a gentle, loving senior Great Dane/Boxer mix who is ready to spend her golden years being spoiled and adored. She has the sweetest heart and bonds deeply with her people once she feels safe and secure. At home, Stormy has happily discovered the joy of being a couch potato. She’ll gladly curl up in bed with you and prove herself to be the very best cuddle buddy you could ask for.

This beautiful girl had a tough past, so she needs time, patience, and a calm environment to feel comfortable in a new home. She warms up more quickly to women and would do best without children or other pets. Stormy has learned to trust again and shows her love with snuggles, gentle affection, and her happy personality once she settles in.

Stormy loves her walks and doesn’t mind heading out even on chilly days. She’s done well with leash and muzzle training, and she rides wonderfully in the car—especially if there’s a pup cup waiting at the end of the trip. Because of her history with other dogs, she’ll need to be the only pet in her home, and she is not a dog park kind of girl. She also struggles with being outside alone, especially in the heat, but she absolutely lights up when she gets to splash in her doggy pool.

At home, Stormy is fully housebroken, non-destructive, and a great listener who knows her basic commands. She enjoys enrichment activities like her lick mat and puzzle toys, which help ease her anxiety, and she’s always eager to show off her zoomies when the mood strikes. She’s still learning her manners, but her sweet nature and willingness to please shine through every day.

After everything she has been through, Stormy deserves a calm, steady home where she can finally relax and be loved for the wonderful dog she is. She’s happiest when she’s close to her people, soaking up affection, and enjoying the slow, cozy life she’s earned. If you’re looking for a devoted, snuggly companion to spoil and cherish, Stormy is ready to fill that role—and your heart.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
