Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Reeses and some like to call me Reeses Pieces since I look like a peanut butter cup. I had a rough start to my life and lived in Belize, on the island of Ambergris Caye in a small town called San Pedro. Even though I lived in a beautiful place, I was homeless and living on the streets. Food was scarce and kindness was even scarcer, fellow strays were no exception. Little did I know my future foster parents were visiting the island, they were so kind to me and actually gave me affection which I loved. I loved it so much that I followed them everywhere, shopping, restaurants, bars and even their resort. I followed them so much that others visiting the island thought I belonged to them. One night it was storming so bad, I was crying at their door to let me in and to my surprise, they did. I felt safest just staying in the doorway; especially since I wasn’t allowed indoors in the past; and I still didn’t fully trust them. It was warm and dry, so I stuck it out, it wasn’t so bad after all. In the morning the nice lady removed some of my many ticks and commented on how many fleas I had. That day I waited at the dock for them to come back from snorkeling and was so very happy to see them we relaxed on the dock until the evening!! The next day they took me to the humane society on the island to try and get me cleaned up by removing all those pesky fleas and ticks hoping I could get adopted by someone on the island. They were so sad to leave me here and the shelter vet said that I had better chances of getting adopted in the United States, so after a few tears they agreed it would be too hard to leave me behind. My life was about to begin…….
Reeses is a very special boy and due to his rough life needs a special home. He very much loves to play; his toys are his pride and joy, and he LOVES playing ball. He likes to hoard toys and appreciates an area that he can have to himself. He still loves to relax and snuggle and can be very lazy at times. Reeses loves to go for walks and car rides, he still is improving on his manners but has made big strides with leash walking. Reeses gets along with female dogs but is dog selective. He would benefit from a home without cats and without any little kids. He is very smart and is a quick learner. He would make a perfect companion for the right family or person looking to give this special boy a second chance at having a great life. Please fill out an application at actnowrescue.net
