My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wonder! This pretty girl is between 3-5 years old and weighs in at a healthy 23 pounds.

You have probably noticed that Wonder has some interesting eyes. Unfortunately, Wonder didn’t come by her “baby blues” naturally. She suffered from something called uveitis, or inflammation of the middle layer of her eyes. Since this happened before she came into ACR’s care, there is no real way to know what caused this inflammation. The uveitis caused changes in Wonder’s eye that made her permanently blind. Wonder has seen an ophthalmologist who decided that since her eyes have normal pressures and are not causing her any pain, she does not need to have them removed. She will need to have her eyes regularly monitored (every 4-6 months) to ensure that the pressure behind them stays normal- this can be done by a regular veterinarian!

Housebreaking, Crate-Training, and Commands
Wonder is housebroken and crate trained! Wonder is housebroken and doesn’t have accidents as long as she is taken out every 3-4 hours, since she doesn’t really signal when she has to go. She LOVES her crate, and in fact, would much rather be in it than out of it! The only noise you’ll hear is the occasional rattling of her accidentally bumping into it, but otherwise, she’s quiet! She knows “sit” and does the cutest “beg” when she hears a treat bag.

Behavior around other Dogs, Cats, and Kids
Wonder would likely do well with any animal as long as they are quiet and give her space. She is not a dog that will enjoy having a playmate, but rather would be happy to just hang out with another animal that wants to be just as lazy as her.

Behavior around People
Wonder is a pretty shy pup, but loves her people once she’s warmed up to them. She won’t walk up to a “stranger” voluntarily, but will accept pets from them if they approach her first! She’s not demanding of attention, but will come up and press her head or rump on you if she knows you’re nearby!

Exercise Needs
A walk a day keeps Wonder’s needs at bay! She’s not exactly the most energetic dog and actually would much rather just laze around and sleep all day long with a few “blind dog wanders” in between.

All In-State Applications will be considered with some preference given to more Local Applications. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS FOR DOGS SIX MONTHS OR YOUNGER.
