Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"CHELSEA" is a 5 y.o. purebred female Border Collie, given up to a shelter because she became destructive when left unsupervised and loose in the house for eight or more hours every day. So far, Chelsea has been calm and sweet-tempered. She loves to go for rides and is very well behaved in cars.
We tried using a crate so she would be safe when she was left alone. However, Chelsea did not do well with the crate. She ate her way out of it. We decided a crate was too much of a risk for her. We feel strongly that she should not be left alone for long periods of time. Chelsea will not beg or bother you: she just wants to know you are there.
She has been wonderful with the dogs in her foster home. She is a very relaxed young lady. She has begun to show some interest in the family cats, and her paperwork from the shelter indicates that she has chased cats in the past. We feel a home with dog-savvy cats would be ok for Chelsea, but her owners would have to be committed to management so her interest does not lead to harassment of the cats.
Chelsea is great on a leash and ready to rest when you are; however she can keep up with the best of them. She rarely barks and never jumps. She is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever known. She needs a loving family and a fenced-in yard to call her own. We cannot stress enough that this sweet girl needs to have a family that will not leave her home alone.
Chelsea isn't very interested in toys or playing just yet (probably still too stressed out). Chelsea is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, and she has been microchipped. She is being fostered in Massachusetts.

IMPORTANT: You should always choose a breed/dog that matches your CURRENT lifestyle. Border Collies are not for everyone, and contrary to popular misconception, most are NOT typically “great family pets” and “wonderful with children.” (If that were true, there would not be nearly as many in rescue!)
Before inquiring about adopting a dog from us, we recommend you do a little research to find out if a Border Collie really is right for your family. For this information, and details on our adoption process, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
Please note that you MUST FIRST fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. Our rescue representatives cannot consider you to adopt ANY dog until your application has been submitted and approved.
For more about Chelsea (including rescue contact information), and for more about other dogs currently available for adoption, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
