My story

NAME: Duck
AGE: 3 years
WEIGHT: 66 lbs

LIKES:  Playing! Snuggles! Belly rubs and car rides

DISLIKES:  new situations can make him a little nervous, but he adjusts well.

PERSONALITY:  fun loving, playful, sweet, energetic and eager to learn

TEMPERAMENT:  listen great, eager to learn, wants to please

ENERGY LEVEL:  moderate to high. Can chill.in the house, but loves to run and play outside

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:  being with his person/people! Chewing on a bone. Running.

FAVORITE TREAT:  not picky

EATING SCHEDULE:  approx 7 am and 7 pm

GOOD WITH CATS, DOGS, KIDS OVER 6?  will chase a cat that runs, to play. Would say older kids just because of his size and his love of running. Loves playing with other dogs.

HOUSE TRAINED:  yes

SIGNALS TO GO OUT:   not really, but is on a consistent schedule

CRATE TRAINED:  yes

CHALLENGES:  food guarding, needs to be fed separately

MEDICAL ISSUES:  no known medical issues

THE BEST HOME:  one that will make a commitment to him- he's been bounced way too many times and needs to find someone to love him for who he is. He has had a terrible hand dealt to him, but he holds no grudges. He loves people. An active home with a fenced yard would be ideal

Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1 1/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.

ADOPTION FEE's:
Puppies under 6 months: $199.00
Adults: $150.00
Seniors (over 7 yrs): $99.00

Why adoption is a great option

Duck, a Youngstown Great Dane/American Staffordshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Youngstown, or seeking a Great Dane/American Staffordshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Youngstown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngstown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngstown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Great Dane/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngstown paves the way for another one to be saved.
