My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Piedmont, Oklahoma
DOB: 04/26/2019 (Estimate)

Sweet Ella is a beauty and a love! This girl loves to be the Queen of the Castle and is a Velcro Dane who becomes attached to her person.

She is a dominant girl that wants to be in charge. She is a little protective over her people. And she has a lot of energy. She reacts very strongly to people running or aggressive behavior, even on TV shows. It would not be unusual to see her jumping up, barking and pacing if something high-energy is on the TV. Her foster is working hard with her on this behavior. After she's done running around though, this girl wants to cuddle.

Being an alpha female, she needs very slow introductions to other dogs who are submissive and a home with no small dogs would be ideal as she can be overpowering and aggressive towards them. She also resource guards her food and should be fed separately, although she doesn’t mind her human moving or touching her food while she’s eating. And the cat by her food does not seem to be an issue.

She needs slow introductions with other people. It takes her a bit to trust, but once she does she is a lovebug. Ella will do best in a home with no children. She has done well with the cats in the foster home; really isn't interested in them.

Ella is very active. She loves stuffed toys that have a squeaker. Likes strong chew bones too! And treats are a plus as well. If given the opportunity, she does enjoy digging in the yard even if her family says otherwise.

Ella does okay on leash but needs some work, is crate trained, knows some basic obedience, rides great in the car, and is a superb watchdog. She’ll let you know if she hears a car in the driveway - especially UPS or FedEx - she's not fond of them.

Ella is a very affectionate dog and loves to give kisses and hugs. She will frequently come and just lay her head in an arm or a lap. She loves getting love but will occasionally growl if the other dog is close. Her foster is working with her on this issue.

If you are looking for an affectionate dog that will stay by your side giving loves and keeping you safe, Ella won’t disappoint!

Go meet their pets

Our rescues are scattered all over the United States in many different states. Scheduling a meeting would not be a problem. We hold many events throughout the year. You can find the latest news on our facebook page or website.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
