My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mercedes was adopted from us 5-1/2 yrs ago but recently returned due to high separation anxiety. She is approximately 7 yrs old and is a Mastiff/Boxer mix. She lived with another large dog and did ok.....but is not good with small dogs.
She was recently surrendered back to us, primarily due to her high separation anxiety---she does NOT like to be left alone. She is medicated to help with the issue.
Mercedes loves to go for walks and be near and with her people. She would do best in a home where she is either the center of attention and/or her owner is home a lot.

8/1/2023---Mercedes is now enrolled in our prison training program.  Anyone interested in her must contact us via email to set up a time to meet her.  She is not at the shelter.....all meetings will occur at the prison once an appointment is scheduled.

More about this shelter

We are a county funded shelter. Our operating budget is very limited. We are open to take in strays and owner turn-ins. We only have 29 kennels and our focus is to promote and adopt out the dogs we take in. We try to learn basic information on the dogs, if they know basic commands, are spayed or neutered, good with other dogs, etc. We do have helpful volunteers that will take a dog home to see how they are in a home situation. As with most shelters we do not know everything about each dog. Our fees to adopt are low. We CANNOT guarantee the health of any animal.
