PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us.

Looking for a playful agile partner? Or maybe a lap dog? Frankie could be any of those things to a loving experienced owner.

And Frankie will come with 4 professional training lessons.

Frankie is a playful, athletic 1 yr old mixed breed, currently about 60 pounds, (our best guess is some German shepherd, maybe something like lab, probably a bit of bully). Rescued from the streets of Texas, she comes to Maryland looking for her forever home. You can see her intelligence just by the way she sits in front of you, waiting to see what you want next. Loving, housebroken, well behaved in the home, very attached to her people, knows several basic commands, very intelligent, will learn quickly with consistency. Loves playing with dogs-will make a wonderful partner for an active dog. Her ideal home would include a single family home without a lot of visitors, a 6 foot high fenced yard ( or an exercise plan) would be good with a playful confident dog or without one.

And here is what Frankie needs-she is fearful when you first meet her (positive reinforcement rewards will make a big difference) and needs slow introductions to new people and new dogs-she will need some adjustment time in her new situation-women can win her over quickly, men take a little bit longer but she is amazing once she is comfortable. She is very food motivated and very responsive to positive reinforcement training. And we will offer a trainer to introduce you and give 4 lessons to make this transition wonderful. Will need a patient experienced adopter that will give her the initial time she needs (read about "two week shutdown" a common shelter recommendation that will make all the difference). Could make a wonderful running and hiking partner or if you just want to snuggle, she excels at that too. Vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Send us an application if interested.

APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter if under 5 months. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.
