Foster insights/story: River is a sweet lovable girl. She is pretty shy at first and very cautious of people, especially men. When she warms up she is ready for attention. Treats help! She is very happy just being in your presence. River doesn’t have to get constant attention but likes to know where you are. She will cuddle, lay beside you or on her dog bed. She is a smart girl and learns quickly. When I was able to bring her inside to work on house training she never had an accident. If the dog door is closed she will sit and wait for you by the door but she won’t actually make any noise to alert you. She is very neat and doesn’t make a mess. River likes to chase birds and squirrels and run up and down the fence with the neighbor dog. She plays well with her foster siblings, and doesn’t fight over toys. She will occasionally steal one of my shoes and take it to the yard and leave it. She never chews it though. I haven’t figured out why.
I’m pretty sure at some point someone grabbed her around her neck and mistreated her because she gets skittish if you reach for her with a collar or leash in your hand or try to put on on her. Once it’s there she is fine. But hands raised above her head for any reason scares her.
River will make a wonderful addition to your family. I have really enjoyed having her as a foster. She has been one of the easiest by far.
