Additional comments:
Rainbow is a beautiful husky mix that was rescued in Manitoba. He has since travelled to Ontario in search of his forever home and is dying to meet you! Poor Rainbow was chained for most of his life and was attacked over and over again by neighbourhood dogs. Because he was chained he had no way to run away or defend himself from these attacks and has suffered some trauma because of this. He will need very slow introductions to other dog, and does best with females and calm and submissive males.

Rainbow is an absolute sweetheart and loves people. It is so evident that he knows he’s been saved and is so thankful in the way he acts toward his humans. He just wants to cuddle and give love. He was recently groomed and was such a good boy!

We are looking for a home for Rainbow that understands that he will be fear reactive toward dogs that he does not know, and are willing to work with him and show him that not all dogs are bad and that he will never be hurt or attacked again. Living in a home is still new to him, but he is making amazing progress with his housetraining! He is great in the car and loves car rides. His foster mom is confident that he will be very easy to train, he just needs to learn what is expected of him. Rainbow may show a bit of food aggression in the beginning, only because he was starved and had his food stolen by other dogs. Once he learns that he has a constant food source we are very confident that this will subside. We know his person is out there, do you have it in your heart to take a chance on him?

Go meet their pets

The majority of our dogs are adopted before traveling to Canada. We are a foster based rescue, so a meet & greet can be arranged with some dogs that are already here.

More about this rescue

We are so much more than a dog rescue! We are a community of incredible volunteers with one goal in mind: To help dogs in need find a loving, forever home. We are moms and dads, sisters and daughters, sons and brothers from all walks of life. We have come together with one goal in mind: To help dogs that need it most. Those on death row, those lost, those hungry those broken-hearted. We will work and work and work until we find a family for each one of them. We will not stop until each one of our dogs has the one thing they wish for: the safety of a home and the love of a family. We are foster based. This means we do not have a facility, dogs are pulled from shelters and put in to comfortable homes until they are adopted. Each foster volunteer allows us to save one more dog and help him/her find a loving forever home. Since 2015, NDR has saved over 9500 dogs. These dogs are ALIVE today because of we cared and we worked and we cried and we pleaded and we drove and we checked and we advocated and we fought and we begged and, in the end, we made this possible without funding or paid staff. With no shelter or corporate sponsors. With nothing but the will of our amazing volunteers working together to help save the lives of the dogs we can help. We keep our heads down, we focus on what we need to do to help our dogs and we go to work. We have made a difference in the lives of those dogs that are fortunate enough to be ours.
