Our hearts are broken into 9-pieces today. It is with the heaviest sadness that we must share...all of Sweet Pea's puppies have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I'm shaking even as I write this. Shaking because we are devistated. Shaking because I'm so angry. Shaking because these pups never had a chance in this world and it's just not fair!!

I am livid at the irresponsible breeder, for allowing this sweet sweet girl to be impregnated by a dog twice her size and one known for producing large litters. Her tiny body, less than 10lbs when not pregnant, simply could not properly develop a litter of this magnitude (both in number and in physical size).

We did everything possible for these pups. They were delivered by c-section, a vet tech stepped-in, they were hand fed with droppers and given nutrition supplements. The foster mom didn't sleep! She gave everything she had to nurture and love them and will them to live. But as the song goes, "sometimes love...it just ain't enough."

So mama Sweet Pea will be going in for her spay as soon as possible and will be available after her recovery. We are going to start accepting applications because we want to find this girl the absolute best home and have her new family ready and waiting for her.
