My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐶 🐕 DOVE Female 2 ½ years, 45 lbs & AVAILABLE herding dog mix – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶

DOVE saw to it that all four of her Bird Pups found great homes, and now it’s her turn. DOVE sports a short white sable coat with red ticking behind her ears and an ever so subtle strip along the middle of her back. She is slight of build. At 45 lbs. she looks like she should put on a few pounds, but even three squares a day has not resulted in added weight. She is very active, loves to run and play with her buddy Perkins and whatever puppy we have added to the mix. She loves to pick up random sticks, branches or tennis balls and let them try to catch her to take it away. They don’t succeed but they have fun trying.

DOVE responds well to people and other dogs, but introductions must be slow and methodical (understandable since she spent 3 weeks in a shelter protecting her babies). But once that light goes on, and she looks at you with that cute smile and big doe eyes, it’s all good. Treats and patience are the way to gain DOVE’s trust. She now seeks out love and pets from her foster parents. She is also good with our 92 year old grandma. She particularly enjoys strokes under the chin, then will slowly lower and roll for belly rubs.

DOVE is potty and crate trained, though she much prefers being out free in the house or romping around outside with the other dogs. She will let you know when she has had enough crate time, mostly when she is ready to go potty.
Access to a doggie door would be a plus. She doesn’t mind going out on her own, but Dove is definitely happier if her people accompany her outside, even with the other dogs joining in the fun. The more DOVE is included in your activities the quicker the bonding will occur. She travels well in her crate.
DOVE is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about DOVE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

DOVE is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.
