My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐶 🐕 SKITTLES Female 2 1/2 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE Husky / BC mix – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶

SKITTLES was a great mom to her 10, yes 10, awesome Sweets and Treats puppies, and now she is ready for her forever home. Once her babies were adopted SKIT really began to shine. She has come a long way from the pancaking, pregnant, and shy gal to the protective, correcting mom, to a friendly, outgoing gal we foster parents love. She gets along well with people and other dogs. She’s been fine around the cats, but with her husky bloodlines we’d still caution against a home with cats. SKITTLES is about 2 1/2years of age, 52 lbs., with a thick medium coat.

SKITTLES is crate and house trained. She has not pottied in the house since her “mom” days. She is now very comfortable in her crate (home and travel) during down and overnight sleep time. She knows “crate” and willingly goes in on her own as she knows it’s either meal or treat time. She knows sit, does ok with down, and has excellent recall even when distracted by people or dogs at the park next door. We are working on “off” as she likes jumping up (gently) on people, and does her share of licking the counters clean (we ensure no food is left for her to get) but responds well to direction.

SKITTLES, after proper introductions, does well with people and other dogs. Once she trusts, she trusts completely. Treats and patience are the way to SKITTLES’s heart. She sits politely for pets, but she is not overbearing. When you stop she’ll find a dog bed or a spot on the floor and patiently wait for the next round...and the next…and the next.

SKITTLES is happy inside or outside, wherever she has companionship. Sun, rain, snow…nothing deters her. She is happiest when her people accompany her outside (she’ll chase a ball or play keep away with a stick) and is almost as happy playing with her foster siblings. She especially enjoys Perkins, who plays to her energy level. She’d prefer a “Perkins-like” four legged companion to help her burn off energy, but would be fine as an only dog if you include yourself in all her activities, and she in yours. The more SKITTLES is included in your activities the quicker the bonding will occur.

SKITTLES is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. More about this rescue

Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions, Inc is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization (aka NCBCRA or norcalbcresue.com) comprised of volunteers who give of their time, energy, and resources to help place border collies into new homes where they will be well cared for and loved.
