My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Luisa
Nickname: LuLu
Breed: Some say Shepherd mix, some say Hound/Lab, some say maybe even a touch of Malinois…
Age: Just over 4 months
Current Weight: 22 lbs.
Before OMD: Found as a stray, brought to the city shelter, who then reached out to us.
Energy Level: On the lower end of Medium.
Moonlights as: An opera singer. And we *really* mean moonlight, as some of her best singing is done at night.
Daylights as: A mix of Scrappy doo (super curious and assists with any mysteries to be solved) and a sack of potatoes. Descriptors: Confident. Lazy. Sweet. Fun. Curious. Smart. Stubborn.
Lap Dog Level: Low. She loves her chest rubbed and her ears and chin scratched. She likes to be right with foster mom and lay next to her, but not right on top of her.
What we love most: How floppy she is. How lazy she can be for a puppy and her love of laying down – will eat and drink laying down, stop suddenly on a short walk to lay down. We’re pretty sure that if she was a human, she would be quite the diva and expect her breakfast in bed and to be hand fed grapes.
What we also love: How outgoing and adventurous she is. Starbucks run? She’s basically already in your car. Want to go to the brewery? She’s down. Want to visit a friend? She’ll be the first through the door, explore, and be asleep on their couch in no time. But, also, want to just hang out and do nothing? She’s your girl.
What she loves most: Anything she can chew…Nylabones, Antlers, your shoes... Trying new snacks…apples, cheese, broccoli, green beans, strawberries, ice cubes. Sniffing everything outside. Chasing bugs. Sleeping with her teddy bear. Car rides.
What she knows: Sit. Out. Coming when her name is called. Working on: Mouthing when excited. Housebreaking. Independence – if you leave to bring out the trash, she’s going to yell about how much she misses you for that 50 seconds.
Kids: Yes, but needs to be dog-savvy and sturdy as she is working on manners and can be mouthy.
Dogs: Big yes! A home with another playful dog would be ideal! Cats: Depends on the cat. She has been known to chase and bark at the cat in her foster home, so would be best only with a very tolerant, dog-savvy cat.
Housebreaking: Nope. Her family will need to have patience with this and continue to work with her.
Crate trained: Work in progress.

Luisa is vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She's available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
