My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WAIVED ADOPTION FEE for this 2 Year Old Medium Pup with a BIG Personality:

“I feel like I could write a whole book about Caillou! He is truly exceptional. He is not a fluff ball dog who is going to be an ornament in your life - he is really a special dog who loves to dig in a giant dirt/mud hole, zoom around the house, steal your pillow, play any game with you (especially tug + zooming to find little treats all around).”

What makes Caillou stand out is his very charming + complex personality that he does not immediately reveal. He will fit in perfectly with a patient adopter who has a sense of humor and is really eager to train, work with, and be besties with Caillou. Caillou is fully house trained, likes his crate and knows a ton of commands and tricks! When it comes to new environments, he does have a lot of anxious energy that takes him a while to settle, but when he finally does, it’s very endearing to watch his worries melt away. Most of all, his favorite thing to do becomes snuggling in the bed with you (and stealing all the covers).

Caillou has been in foster care since he was just a puppy, time after time his adoption prospects have fallen through without even meeting him. He’s now 1 Year Old and 40lbs and truly ready to shine in a forever home. Caillou loves running around and getting his zoomies out with other dogs outside, but cannot live in a home with other dogs or cats. We know and hope that there’s a family or human out there experienced with high energy breeds like Caillou who can give him the structure and routine he needs to succeed - and be rewarded with all his love and quirks in return.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
