My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apricot Jam
Hello there. Let me tell you about myself. I am a 5-year-old buff-colored male tabby, already neutered. How`s my personality, you ask? I do great with kids. I love snuggling, playing, and hanging out with them. I co-existed with the cat and the dogs I lived with. Although I largely ignored them, I wouldn`t try to avoid them. I always hid when we had new company, but once a person had been there several times, I would stay around and visit with them. I am a very loving, friendly, and affectionate guy when I feel comfortable and safe. I can also be the life of the party! I get excited when you bring out the chirping toys, wand toys, and catnip. Sitting by the fire during the winter is my favorite pastime! Merry Christmas, Apricot Jam! The interviewer lady (IL) was so happy to meet me because I was immediately affectionate with her, purring and head-butting her. She told me I was a keeper! Whatever that means? But have you ever met a cat with PTSD? My traumas started when I was 2 months old. I was surrendered because I was the offspring of my owner`s pet. Next, I was surrendered because my second owner couldn`t afford to keep me, but this owner had had both my front paws declawed. OUCH! Finally, on October 27, my third owner, who had had me for 3 years, surrendered me back to HSHC. I do not understand all these changes. The IL told me I am such a good boy, I will be easy to love! The HSHC staff will provide you with crucial information to make my transition to your home a success. 12-9-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
