Rosita is a very affectionate young girl who is playful and very smart. She has caught on well to basic commands (sit, down, wait, paw). She is housetrained and LOVES her crate for down time and sleeping.
Rosita is currently fostered in a home with two older dogs (ages 7 and 8). While she has adjusted well to living with her two canine companions, she may do best as an only dog or in a home with an experienced dog owner.
Rosita experiences leash reactivity outside the home that she is currently working on with the support of a behavior plan and is showing the beginnings of some ability to control and redirect her “big feelings”.
Rosita will require a home that can provide her with continued work on her behaviors, a home with the time and patience to give her the engagement and training that her young and active mind needs. She loves her plush toys and benebones, and has never chewed up furniture or items not meant for her chewing. She loves games and snuffle puzzles.
Rosita is a wonderful loving girl (she still loves to sit in your lap and bring you her toys) who would make a great companion as long as her behavior needs met.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
