**I am located in Georgia, but I can be transported north to you!**
Name: Dyson
Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, 2 years old, 45lb
Vetting: Completely up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered.
House trained/Crate Trained: Dyson is house and crate trained and sleeps in his crate through the night.
Dogs/Cats/Children: Dyson LOVES other dogs and is very friendly and playful with them! He defers to the dogs already in the house and is mildly submissive towards them. He has been non-reactive towards cats and would get along well with older, calmer children as he is a little bit nervous when humans make sudden movements or sounds.
Energy Level: Dyson's energy level is moderate. He's happy to take a long walk or run in the yard playing with other dogs, but he's also happy laying inside watching TV and chewing on a bone.
Before FAR/My History: Dyson was adopted as a puppy from FAR and was later returned through no fault of his own.
Training Status/Commands I know: We are still learning what commands he knows, but he definitely can "sit" and "give paw". He knows "no" and "off", and responds immediately to those commands. He's very respectful of boundaries and waits to be invited onto human furniture and will get off immediately when you ask. He's treat motivated but not grabby, and has already learned to only take treats that are offered to him (ex. not lunging at another dog's treat). He seems very smart, easy to train, and eager to please!
Working on: He is a somewhat anxious dog and can be scared of seemingly random things (we haven't been able to convince him to walk down the hallway in our house yet, for example), so our main goal is to work on building his confidence in new situations. Occasionally when he gets startled, he will accidentally pee just a bit, but it's only happened a couple times, and this will lessen/stop once his confidence is better. His leash walking skills are a work in progress as well, but he's learning proper etiquette very quickly!
Things I like: Toys, treats, bones/chews, dogs, butt scratches, cuddling on the couch, running in the yard, playing. He's a very happy, easy to please pup!
Things I don’t like: Peanut butter!! I had never met a dog who didn't like peanut butter. lol He will literally spit it out! He also is nervous around men he doesn't know, gets very scared when people raise their voices, and is sometimes hesitant to try new things.
Things that make my humans happy: The most adorable thing is how much he loves butt scratches! He will back up to you when he wants them and will kind of hop around and make the happiest face. It's so cute! He also makes cute little happy grunts when he lays down or is getting comfortable, which is adorable! I like that he barks when he hears or sees someone near the house, but doesn't bark excessively and will stop when you acknowledge the "threat". He's great at cuddling, he blends in well with our pack, and is generally a great, well-rounded dog!
Ideal Family/Home: Dyson would do great in any home that is patient and loving with him! He would love a family with dogs and/or older kids and a yard! I could also see him being a great companion for a single person who wants a walking/running buddy that is alert to danger but also chill. He has lived in an apartment before too, and did great as he isn't very barky. I could see him being a great dog to go on adventures with once he's comfortable with his humans!
Special Notes: Super great, easy foster dog!

If you choose not to adopt, we will contact the next approved applicant. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact us and we will be glad to help!
Our adoption process starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. In the application, you can specify a particular dog in which you are interested, or let us know what type of pet in which you are looking, so we can find the perfect animal to fit your family and your needs. Once the application is received, a board member will review the application, and make contact with the potential adopter within 48 hours. This initial contact may include further questions/more information, or may include scheduling a meet and greet for you to meet the animal in which you are interested! Once the application is approved or the meet and greet goes well, then the adoption can be finalized. To finalize the adoption, an adoption agreement must be completed, the adoption fee paid (we accept cash, paypal, or credit/debit card), and then the potential adopter can take their new family member home with them or schedule pick up of their furry family member! The adoption fee varies based on the animal. Some of our animals have the fees listed in their individual post but if you do not see one then please feel free to contact us and we would be happy to let you know the cost to adopt a particular pet. If you are interested in any of our animals, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!

More about this rescue
Furever After Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a no-kill, foster-based rescue devoted to finding homes for animals needing a loving home. Most of our animals come from local, high-kill shelters with some occasionally coming from bad situations and owner surrender. Our animals are immediately placed in foster homes where they learn love and are taught how to live in a home environment. All of our animals are up-to-date on their age-appropriate vetting needs and are tested for personality traits as best as possible. We have many wonderful pets looking for forever homes!
We are currently based out of Macon, GA but partner with a quality private transport group that helps us get our furbabies to homes up and down the east coast so don't let distance deter you from contacting us about one of our furry friends!
