Their adoption process

We want to make sure that the pets we save continue to be cared for after leaving our care. If at any time the pet needs to be removed from your home, please call us so that we can make arrangements.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Photos can be added to speed up the adoption process for those out of state or a good distance away.
  2. Interview
    1. Your application may have us curious about certain concerns with the pet of your choice. We call to ensure ya'l are a good match.
  3. Home Check
    1. Photo or digital conference for out-of-state is done to satisfy this part of the process.
  4. Approve Application
    1. Once references have been heard back from, a determination is made. This usually takes the longest. You will receive an email.
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. This is received by a text from our software. Please read before you sign. It is the first screen to open. It will proceed to the payment.
  6. Pay Fee
    1. You will need to bypass pet insurance recommendations or select the insurance of your choice to proceed to the fee.
  7. Take the Pet Home
    1. The pet can go home with you if you are within the state of TX or pick up. Out-of-state will be given details to meet transport.

Go meet their pets

With fosters and dogs located across various areas, we prioritize a streamlined adoption process. To ensure a smooth experience, we require an approved application before arranging meet-and-greets with our dogs. This way, we can make the most of everyone's time and often avoid unnecessary back-and-forth. Once your application is approved, we'll connect you with the foster to set up a meet!

More about this rescue

At Voice for Animals Rescue and Sanctuary (VARS), we're a 501(c)3 dedicated to giving harder-to-adopt dogs a second chance at life. We specialize in rescuing dogs who've been overlooked due to their coat color, disability, breed, or age. Our mission is simple: help dogs in need, no matter what. From tiny to giant, puppies to seniors - if they're being passed over, we'll step in.

While puppies aren't our usual focus, we do support moms and babies when needed. And for our senior friends, they hold a special place in our hearts. Once cherished family members, they're often abandoned simply for being "old." We vow to be their voice, their shelter, and their ticket to a loving home.

We'll keep working until every paw finds its forever home.
